A LITTLE HISTORY, A LOT OF HOSPITALITY
Déco Restaurant & Bar is more than just a place to grab dinner or a drink. We're a neighborhood restaurant and bar in Warren, Vermont, where locals, visitors, skiers, hikers, and travelers can come together, enjoy good food, and feel at home.
Our story goes back much further than the Déco name.
Located inside an 1839 farmhouse at the bottom of the Sugarbush Access Road, our restaurant is part of Hostel Tevere, which first opened in 2009. From the beginning, the idea was to create a welcoming place where people from different backgrounds could meet, share stories, and enjoy the Mad River Valley.
A NEW CHAPTER IN 2019
When I purchased Hostel Tevere in April 2019, I wasn't just buying a hostel and restaurant. I was taking on a business that had already become part of the community, and I wanted to build on what made it special.
Of course, nobody could have predicted what would happen next.
Less than a year later, COVID changed everything. Like restaurants everywhere, we had to adapt quickly. We shifted to takeout, navigated closures, and tried to figure out what the next week would bring.
Then, in June 2020, our chef resigned, and I found myself running the kitchen. With help from my parents, who came to Vermont and spent several months helping keep things going, we made it through one of the most challenging periods in the business's history.
It wasn't always easy, but those experiences helped shape what the restaurant would eventually become.
THE BIRTH OF DÉCO
In July 2022, we introduced Déco Restaurant & Bar, giving the restaurant a new identity while keeping the welcoming atmosphere that had always been part of Hostel Tevere.
We wanted Déco to be the kind of place where you could stop in after a day on the mountain, meet friends for dinner, enjoy a cocktail at the bar, or simply relax without feeling like you needed a special occasion.
Today, our menu focuses on approachable, satisfying food, from burgers and pub favorites to hearty dinners, alongside craft cocktails, local Vermont beers, and wines.
LOCALS, TRAVELERS, AND EVERYONE IN BETWEEN
One of my favorite things about Déco is the mix of people who walk through our doors.
On any given evening, you might find longtime Mad River Valley residents catching up with friends, skiers sharing stories from the slopes, cyclists finishing a long ride, or hostel guests from different parts of the world getting to know one another.
That's what makes this place special.
We're an independent restaurant, and like many small businesses, we're always learning, adapting, and finding ways to improve. But one thing hasn't changed: we want people to feel welcome, enjoy themselves, and look forward to coming back.
